  12. I just subscribed because I want to win the book for my son. He did not talk till he was 4 years old. Now he is almost 10 and can speak well (with lots of cute mistakes). However, he is very much challenged by writing. Since English is my second language, a good book would very much help us.

  14. If I were to help a young lady prepare a hope chest I would give her lots of handmade potholders (my grandmother made me tons and tons of them, I have been married 14 years and I am still using them, I still have some in my hope chest to be used when these wear out - you can never have too many).

  16. Her favorite childhood book or puzzle. I have some that I did at my grandmother's home and it means so much when I watch my little girls working these precious memories puzzles.

  17. This may seem a bit strange, but I would put in a cutting board. The reason is that my great-grandmother gave my mom a wooden cutting board years ago and said to her "every married woman needs a cutting board". After college, when I moved out-of-state, my mother handed me that same cutting board & said "every woman out on her own needs a cutting board". I in turn would pass on this same cutting board & say "every woman needs a cutting board".

  28. For my daughter's hope chest I am making a family cookbook with all of our favorite recipes.

  29. I started a hope chest my junior year. Every week, I'd add a new pot, pan, skillet, etc. It helped my husband & I so much when we got our own place, because we had an entire set! So, I'd probably buy something like that. I also like the idea of a cookbook of family recipes.

  30. For the hope chest I would include some hand-embroidered flour-sack towels with the weekdays on them. My grandma made me a pack and they are very precious to me.

And maybe some pretty sheets and pillow cases.
