Fisher Price Rock 'n Play Sleeper: A Review

Miya is only 2 months old and already helping me with my reviews! Here she is in an easy to assemble and easy to move around the house  Rock 'n Play Sleeper. I have a swing that has been used since my firstborn but it stays in one place whereas the Rock n' Play Sleeper goes anywhere in my house and can be folded easily for a trip somewhere.

Most of the time she is pretty happy in it, occasionally
you might see this:  Happy or not though, it is a safe place to let her be during those last minutes of cooking supper when babies like to cry the most!

Thankfully, we also have the peaceful moments when she is watching and making cute little baby sounds.

Here is what Fisher Price has to say about the product:
"Soothe, sleep or play night or day!
The Newborn Rock ’n Play Sleeper is a nighttime sleeper and playtime seat all in one! And it’s the only infant seat that meets industry safety standards for bassinets. So besides using it as a perfect place for baby to rock (with a gentle push from you!) and play during the day, you can also use it as a place for baby to sleep at night. It has an inclined seat, which makes sleeping more comfortable for babies who need their head elevated. Other features include three-point restraint to keep baby secure, a toy bunny for soothing and entertaining, and a washable insert for comfort and support. Plus it’s very lightweight, so it’s easy to move around the house."

The maximum weight allowed is 25 lbs. (11,3 kg) and you can use from birth until child is able to pull up or sit unassisted. It is priced about $50.00.  Go here to read more and view a demo!
**Assembly is a cinch!** No tools (or brain function) necessary!!

GRAMMAR LAND (PDF ebook)
"What is Grammar Land? Where is Grammar Land?
Have you ever been to Grammar Land? Wait a minute
and you shall hear..." In this classic read aloud book,
published way back in 1878, author Nesbitt creates
an amazing fantasy land not unlike "Alice In Wonderland",
where the citizens are the nine parts of speech
(Mr. Proper Noun, Dr. Verb, Little Article, etc.)
and all are governed by the stern but wise old Judge Grammar.
It's a fun, fascinating way to learn some of the basic grammar
rules all the while carried along by the very memorable
characters and a wild adventure to boot. Highly recommended!

the coming springtime growing season.

Apologia: A Review of The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling by Debra Bell

I could write a book about this book! But don't worry, I'm not that ambitious nor do I have the time. (Check out here how this author found the time.)
That's why a book like this that Debra Bell has taken the time to write is 'precious'.  I read a lot of 'how to homeschool' books several years ago and honestly thought when I got this in the mail that I would just skim through it, write my review and pass it on. Not so! You will have to get your own copy.

I like the quote on the back cover:
"Passes Mike Farris's Official Number One Rule in Homeschooling: If it ain't easy for Mom to use, throw it out." -Micheal Farris (Founder, Home School Legal Defense Assosciation)

That quote says it all.  Each chapter includes lots of stories, practical tips, recommended resources, stories from the Bell family and great advice from those that have blazed the trail before us.

Here are the chapter headings:
Homeschooling: Is it for You? (Includes a section for single parents, special needs and careers)

Choosing a Curriculum (great section titled 'Homeschooling on a Shoetring')

Organization and Planning (this is the part I really need!)

Preventing Burnout (Brunout Busters 1-5)

What to Teach-When and How

Homeschooling Teens (I have 6 more years before this happens)

Computers in the Homeschool

Creative Solutions (help for those who have toddlers or a zillion kids, which my husband says we have)

Measuring Your Success

Pre-Game Peptalk

Resource Guide (I love this part, I get a lot of my ideas just reading from catalogs!)

I was encouraged and challenged at the same time. I truly believe the Lord helped her to write this book because it many times convicts you and provides you with a door of hope at the same time!

Most people when they hear the name Apologia think science but they have an Apologia Press Section that includes curriculum, resources for parents and tools for parents! The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling is sold here for $20.

Zeezok Publishing/The Book Peddler: A Review

I love music, especially classical music! So having the opportunity to review Franz Schubert and his Merry Friends and The Young Brahms collection (includes study guides and a companion CD) was a delight.
It has also been a source of inspiration to get my act together and share my musical talents with my children.
I used to say 'If I ever have kids they will be playing violin before they are walking'. Well, 5 kids later I have not been too diligent in this area.  We are starting to head in the right direction however, Thank the Lord!

I really enjoyed reading these books and was challenged by the way the authors showed that even though these great musicians were obviously gifted they also had to work hard to become great!  The books are written in such a way that they are enjoyable to be read as well as reading out loud to younger children.  They include pleasant illustrations as well as several examples of music mentioned.

The Young Brahms by Sybil Deucher takes you through year 15 of Johannes Brahms life. He was the son of poor parents and his musician father many times kept him out way too late playing in taverns to help earn income for the family.  However, his love for music and composing were rewarded in time with invaluable lessons that led him to be successful in composing, teaching, and playing.  You will recognize several of the pieces mentioned which include the Waltz that many Suzuki students play out of their second book and of course Cradle Song.

Franz Schubert and his Merry Friends by Opal Wheeler and Sybil Deucher gives the reader a lighthearted account of Schuberts friends, and their pranks and escapades.  You will discover the real reason why the Unfinished Symphony is unfinished and be astonished at the rate Schubert composed music.

In this package I received were a study guide for Schubert and Brahms and a companion CD.  The study guides provide you with the following: a map of major cities visited, a time line that includes other significant history, reading comprehension questions for each chapter, character qualities exhibited, and a few puzzles for fun. The CD includes audio files of all the music, coloring pages for each chapter and printable sheet music of all the music.

This softcover collection is priced at $35.80.  Zeezok Publishing was established in 2003, and they believe "It is better to build children than to repair men." To that end they strive to provide quality literature and educational books for use in training the next generation.  You can sign up for their free newsletter here.

Saxon factsfirst:A Review

It's a good thing my kids like math and computers or I would be in trouble this year with all these great math programs to review. To be honest, these math program reviews have been timely for me with a new baby and a nice change of pace for the kids.

So, let me tell you about factsfirst. The factsfirst program is being distributed by Saxon Homeschool and was created by Skills Tutor, a sister company to Saxon. The program will complement any primary math program and is not specifically designed to accompany Saxon Math programs.  The factsfirst program is ideal for developing fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and it incorporates fun activities that keep children engaged.

I like this site because it offers fun for the kids but doesn't go overboard with it. There are colorful backgrounds behind the math drills but in an unobtrusive, uncluttered way. To begin with, your child may choose to create a self-portrait that appears in each of their lessons.

Next, depending on their ability, choose a lesson from the 4 categories, adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. Each section features a pretest, lesson with problems and a posttest. The lessons consist of five basic segments; new facts, commutative property, practice, quiz, and scoring. New facts are gradually introduced to children as they work toward mastery. Facts are grouped in units with each lesson in a unit introducing two new facts. A child masters these facts before starting another unit. More than 360 activities engage and encourage children to quickly and accurately respond to questions and advance to the next set of facts.  One feature I especially like is you can adjust the maximum time a student can spend to show mastery.
(Since Redd is still getting used to the keyboard this is a great feature!)

The Arcade is of course my son's favorite part. After each lesson, a child is rewarded with 5 minutes of arcade time and has several games to choose from each with easy, medium and hard levels.

At the end of each lesson a Math Matrix is shown. The Math Fact Matrix provides an overview of your child’s performance on individual math facts. The Math Fact Matrix uses complex algorithms to present the child’s performance on individual math facts. It is weighted based on speed, frequency and other indicators of proficiency.

You, the parent, can view at any time assessments of each lesson. Another nice feature is that when you login, the program will tell you what is best to do next according to your last lesson results. Make sure you take a look at their addition and multiplication demos! You may purchase factsfirst at the economical price of $49.99 for an one-year household lisence for 1-4 children.

As a member of the TOS Crew, I received this product free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion of the product. You may read more reviews here.

We accept coupons that have not passed their expiration date for use; we can not accept any expired coupons.

We accept only one manufacturer coupon per purchased item.
We do not accept coupons on items not purchased.
Coupons must be presented at time of purchase; we can not return money for coupons not used.
Coupons presented and items purchased must match exactly; size, variety, flavor, etc.
We uphold any purchase stipulations set forth by product manufacturer.
We accept only one coupon for Buy One Get One Free items.
We accept coupons for items only of equal or more value; we do not give cash back.
Sales tax is paid by customer at full retail.

Doubling
We accept 20 double coupons per day per customer/household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit to be exceeded.
We double manufacturer’s coupons up to face value of $0.99; with total amount not to exceed $1.98 or entire retail of item; whichever is less.
We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value.
No competitor coupons will be doubled or tripled.
In the event of triple coupons, up to 20 coupons will be tripled per day per customer/household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit to be exceeded. NOTE: The "20 coupons per day per customer/household" is being tracked. We gladly accept internet manufacturer’s coupons for product; however no “free” product internet coupons are accepted.
With the purchase of two like manufacturer’s products, we accept two internet coupons, per store, per day. NOTE: This does NOT mean only 2 IPs per transaction. Tricky wording. It means 2 IPs per manufacturer. Thus, if you have (2) internet Dial bodywash coupons AND (2) internet Charmin coupons; then you can use all (4) coupons during one visit.
We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan.

Competitor’s Coupons
We gladly accept local competitors’ circular or direct-mail coupons for MONEY OFF THE TOTAL ORDER; we do not take competitor’s coupons for money off specific items.
We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.

Rainchecks
Rainchecks never expire and are accepted at any Harris Teeter store.
We do not issue rainchecks for coupon items that may be out of stock or for “while supplies last” items.
We reserve the right to limit raincheck quantities based on product availability and advertised limits.
Rainchecks can be written for a limit of three unless otherwise stated in the ad.

Scan Guarantee
Our scan guarantee states “If an item scans higher than the shelf tag or sign, you will receive one like item free, excluding alcohol and tobacco.

Harris Teeter reserves the right to limit quantities in coupon usage, as well as products and to amend our policies as we deem appropriate.

I was sent this email recently and thought all of you hardworking moms out there would enjoy this!

JUST A MOM?
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office,
Was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.
She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.
'What I mean is, ' explained the recorder,
'do you have a job or are you just a ...?'
'Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman. 'I'm a Mom.'
'We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it,'
Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself
In the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
Efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like,
'Official Interrogator' or 'Town Registrar.'
'What is your occupation?' she probed.
What made me say it? I do not know..
The words simply popped out.
'I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations.'
The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and
Looked up as though she had not heard right.
I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words..
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
In bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.
'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest, 'just what you do in your field?'
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,
I heard myself reply,
'I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out).
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family)
And already have four credits (all daughters).
Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?)
And I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers
And the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.'
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
Completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door..
As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
Testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more
Distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another Mom.'
Motherhood!
What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers 'Senior Research Associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations' ?
And great grandmothers 'Executive Senior Research Associates?'
I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts 'Associate Research Assistants'.

Please send this to another Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, And other friends you know.

Happy Valentines Day!

Dollar Homeschool- A Review

As part of the TOS crew I have had the honor this year to receive some awesome products, to try out for free, online and through the mail. I will be honest and say that e-books or curriculum on CD have not been my favorite but they are growing on me.  The Eclectic Education Series offered by Dollar Homeschool has definitely helped with this.
Many of you know I am a unapolegetic bibliomaniac (lover of books and anything that has to do with books). I especially love older books but they can be expensive especially when you are talking about a popular collection such as the McGuffey Readers and Ray's Arithmetic. Out of curiosity I looked at several places online such as christianbook.com and amazon.com to see the prices and just to purchase these two series would cost me about $165.00.
Take a look at what Dollar Homeschool is offering with the Eclectic Education Series for the price of $159:

Ray's Arithmetic textbooks.
The Ray's series includes a total of 38 books. These include the 12 core Textbooks, + Answer Key's, Teachers Editions, and several intriguing books of mathematical pursuits for the aspiring student, such as Surveying and Navigation, Astronomy, Book Keeping, and Physics. Click here to view a list of the entire collection of Rays' Arithmetic provided on the CD.

The entire collection of McGuffey Readers
Throughout history of the United States it's safe to say that no series of books has ever embodied the vision and beliefs of early America better than the McGuffey Readers. Used almost exclusively in schools and homes all over America for more than half a century, the McGuffey Readers do not just teach reading, but instruct the learner in Christian morals, history, and public speaking.
Grammar CD
The EES Grammar CD includes three different series on the skill of writing and language. Longs Language covers the first four grades, and deals with basic writing skills. Then Pinneos Grammar steps in, with a more technical look at the subject, and a gradual progression of difficulty. When finished with Pinneos Grammar, the student will be more than prepared for writing, but in case more study or a reference is desired, Harvey's Grammars are included as well.

The EES History CD
The History CD is an excellent collection of historical books, including Thalheimer's histories, a rare 3 volume set on Oliver Cromwell, Andrews Constitution, American Poetry, and more.
Sample pages can be viewed here.

Science CD
The science books included in the Eclectic Education Series provide an interesting and informative introduction to many of the major sciences: Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Accounting, Botany, Industrial Mechanics, and more are all addressed.
Sample pages can be viewed here.

I took a few more minutes to search some of these titles online and even though hardback books are wonderful, to get all that is offered here looks like well over $300 worth.  My own personal opinion is the content contained in this collection is priceless.  The lessons are something you and your children can sink your reading chops into! Even better, they emphasize patriotism, traditional values, and the Bible.
Read more here about the history behind the EES.
In the welcome letter found in Ray's Arithmetic there is advice on how to place a child in the series, how to help a child with dyslexia/disabilites, helping a child that has difficulty studying and the advice I appreciate the most is this:
"The trick is to make sure they learn each lesson AS they do it. Requiring 100 percent accuracy has accomplished that for us." (quote from a homeschool mom)

In my 'treasure chest' of homeschool resources the Eclectic Education Series is a definite diamond!
Want to see for yourself? Take a few minutes to watch this video and learn more! Also check out their new blog, Dollar Homeschool Blog.
Thank You Dollar Homeschool for the opportunity to review this gem!

MathTutorDVD.com Review

"I personally get a thrill out of making seemingly complex topics suddenly easy to students. I have found over the years that the easy way to do this is to learn by working example problems, beginning with the easier ones and gradually progressing to the harder ones."
-Quote by Jason Gibson, the instructor mentioned in this review

Not too long ago I received 2 DVD's from MathTutorDVD.com titled The Basic Math Word Problem Tutor, and Young Minds: Numbers and Counting.  For several months up until Mia was born we did a lot of our school from workbooks so  these videos were a welcome change!

My youngest son, Elijah, normally is not interested in watching anything on the T.V. (I know this is a good thing but sometimes it sure is helpful to pop in a video, like when something is boiling on the stove and the baby is crying, etc all at the same time).   Anyway, he likes this video. Rusty had worked a lot lately on saying and writing his numbers so maybe that helped. Young Minds: Numbers and Counting is similar to
Baby Einstein videos we have watched but what I liked about this DVD is when they introduce a number they show it several different times with different scenes like 3 animals, 3 fruits, etc. and each time they don't just say the number but always count up to it from 1. So by the time they reach 10 the children watching/listening have heard a whole lot of counting up from 1.  The photos and video shots used are high quality and the music is by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and others.  Go here to view a sample video and screenshots. The price for this product is $19.99.
Your child will learn:
- Learn to recognize the numbers 1-10.
- Associate the number with physical objects.
- Count from 1-10.
- Animal names and sounds.
- Fruits and Vegetables.
- Names of colors.
- Names of machines such as cars, airplanes, etc.

Bonus Features:
- Repeat Play
- Picture Puzzles
- Connect the Dots
- Name the Animal

O.K., now who is afraid of word problems? When I was in school, I could do math all day long except when it came to word problems in the higher grades. The 'problem' is that word problems are the practical side of learning math, right? Well, Jason Gibson, the instructor in this DVD does a great job of patiently breaking down word problems for the following concepts in math:

Disc 1
Section 1: Adding Whole Numbers
Section 2: Subtracting Whole Numbers
Section 3: Multiplying Whole Numbers
Section 4: Dividing Whole Numbers
Section 5: Adding Decimals
Section 6: Subtracting Decimals
Section 7: Multiplying Decimals
Section 8: Dividing Decimals

Disc 2
Section 9: Adding Fractions
Section 10: Subtracting Fractions
Section 11: Multiplying Fractions
Section 12: Dividing Fractions
Section 13: Percents, Part 1
Section 14: Percents, Part 2
Section 15: Ratio and Proportion

This DVD is great for Redd because his reading skills have recently caught up to his math skills so word problems are showing up more frequently in his workbooks. To see a few screenshots of Mr. Gibson working out some word problems, go here or view some video samples go here. Defintely take the time to visit this page and watch the first part of The Basic Math Word Problem Tutor. This DVD sells for $26.99 and when you purchase any of the math tutor DVD's there is a limited time bonus offer:

"Truthfully, I wish I were a genius, but I am most certainly not. My opinion on that matter is that there are very very few people who have ever lived who I would consider a real genius. Folks like Beethoven who could compose music while deaf, or Einstein who made incredible leaps of insight in physics - are the true geniuses. Everyone else, like you and me, just need to be introduced to the right instructor early on to break the process down and make the topics understandable. With understanding comes confidence, and confidence is 100% the name of the game in math and science."

Frugal Ethics
When Frugal Becomes Just Plain Cheap
By Tawra Kellam
http://www.LivingOnaDime.com/

There are times when it's tempting to lie, steal or break one of the other 10 Commandments to get a good deal but, in living frugally, we all need to stick to being honest. This is not always easy to do, but I want to give some examples that may help you stay honest. Here are some common tactics that some people use that are unethical and sometimes illegal:

You need some pens because you are running short so you take a handful from a store that is giving them out. This is stealing. If you take one, that's fine. Unless they tell you to take them all, it is tacky to take a large number of them. They're offering them simply as a courtesy.

You buy an item and you use it a few times and then return it because you're done with it. Stealing and lying. You probably won't tell the sales clerk you just needed to use it for a few times and even if you do, that's only OK if it is a rental store. If an item breaks, doesn't work or is not the right color, it is fine to return it. If you just needed it "for a few times" (like a dress for a special occasion) and know you won't use it again, you're stealing if you return it.

If you eat a food item with a guarantee on the box and it tastes nasty, return it. That's why they offer a guarantee. If you eat the entire contents of the box first and return the mostly-empty box, it probably wasn't actually nasty.

If you try to pass off your 14 year old child as a 12 year old so that you only have to pay for a child's meal, you are lying and teaching your child that lying is good when it benefits you.

If you find a "great deal" that you can't live without but you don't have the money in your checking account, don't write a check. Let it be the "one that got away" If you knowingly write a bad check, you are stealing and lying.

If you find a "great deal", buy it and then hide it from your husband, you're lying (unless it's his birthday present ;-). If you have to hide it, you know you're doing something wrong.

If you charge up your credit cards with frivolous things like shopping and eating out and then declare bankruptcy, you are stealing from the credit card company and from everyone who does business with that company. Bankruptcy is intended to help people who end up financially strapped because of reasons beyond their control, like catastrophic medical expenses or the death of a spouse. It is unethical to declare bankruptcy because you went on a shopping spree, because you bought something you couldn't afford when you bought it or because you decided to change careers and no longer want to pay the student loans for your old career. You signed that piece of paper when you purchased the item saying you would pay them back and you didn't. It's up to you to pay them back any (legal :-) way you can, even if it does mean feeling "deprived" for a time.

One more thing about bankruptcy: It is unethical to incur lots of debt "keeping up with the Joneses" and then go bankrupt because the debt is so large. Many people look at others and say to themselves, "Those people are the same age as me. I work hard. I deserve that too." or "our house is too small" or "our car is a real clunker so we need to buy a brand need one to "save" on repair costs ( a huge myth, by the way!). If you can afford these things, by all means, buy them. If you can't afford those things, find a way to make more money or learn to be happy with what you have.

Frugal living is about making good financial decisions. There are so many things you can do to spend your money more wisely, so when you think you can get a "good deal", but it requires doing something that hurts someone else, pass it up.

Whenever you're in doubt about whether something is ethical, ask yourself if it would be OK with you if the situation were reversed and you were the person potentially coming up short. Be honest. We've all heard "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." If you would object to others doing it to you, you better look for a better way to save.

KinderBach Review

My children have had a blast helping me review this product, KinderBach, created by Kerri Gregor.
We were given the opportunity to review, for free, weeks 1-30.  My family had a little bit an interruption with a new baby and all but we were able to make it to week 15.
It has been neat to watch and see how each of my kids responded to it. I had already been working with Redd a little this year on the piano so the lessons were great for helping him review.  Rusty, my 4 yr. old has learned the finger numbers, high and low sounds, and the dynamics piano and forte.

Elijah, my 2 yr. old goes around singing about Dodi the donkey and loves clapping along with the various songs used during the lessons. Mia, our newest addition is getting extra early training sitting in my lap during the lessons!
Dodi represents the note 'D' and he lives in between the 2 black keys.
Click on this picture to print out a 'Dodi loves D' picture, and enter your child's picture for a chance to win an Everyday Songbook CD Package.

Your first question might be, 'What if I don't play the piano or know very much about music'? The beauty of the KinderBach program is you don't have to know how to play the piano or read music! You can learn right along with your student/child.  KinderBach is a tried and proven method of teaching very young children to actually PLAY PIANO, read NOTES, learn INTERVALS, RHTHYM & music PATTERNS. Go and watch the KinderBach Information Video for more details.

When visiting the website, you can tell that Kerri Gregor has a heart for children. Go here and click on the icon that says 'Meet the Piano Pals' and then scroll through and click on the characters that say they have their own webpage and see the artwork and contests posted. What kid wouldn't love to see their artwork displayed for so many people to see!

Here are several more aspects about the the Kinderbach program that I enjoyed:
-You here a variety of voices teaching and singing the different lessons to keep the children engaged
-familiar songs sung such as 'I'm a little teapot', 'Twinkle', 'Hot Cross Buns' and 'Starlight, Starbright'.
-lessons can be replayed as necessary (some songs my boys wanted to hear over and over).
(go here) and click on 'free song download' to hear some song samples)
-Kerri Gregor understands the attention span of young children and the lessons offer a well-rounded assortment of music to listen to, coloring sheets, games and activities

You might also want to print out and let your child color this free coloring book about Dodi:
FREE Coloring Book!
Dodi the Donkey!
“Dodi the Donkey!” is a story and coloring book, a unique music education tool for parents or teachers. It is part of the KinderBach music curriculum and is most effective when used with the online web video (or DVDs).

What I love about a program like this especially during these economic times are the cost of the program is 75% lower than traditonal lessons, there is no travelling involved, the program is available 24/7 and you can work at a pace that is suitable to your child's level of ability.
There are a couple of different ways you can experience Kinderbach to see what it's like. The first two weeks lessons are offered free here ( KinderBach Piano Lessons at Home), or you may go to the webpage Classroom KinderBach Teacher  and order the 'Try It Out' package which includes everything you would need for a week's lesson. If you decide to order one of these programs click on one of links above and use the coupon code KBFriends to receive a 10% discount!

So, take your kids on over to KinderBach, visit Dodi and his friends, and begin a musical journey that will last a lifetime!

General Mills Cereal Review

I recently was given the opportunity to enjoy 4 complementary boxes of cereal offered to me by General Mills through My Blog Spark.
General Mills recently announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

Benefits enjoyed by ready-to-eat cereal eaters:
-consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters
-cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.
-account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.
-No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.
-more frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

As many of you with children know, breakfast is also one of the most important meals of the day!
A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school.  (Plus, how great is it when your 6 year old can get the cereal and milk out and get breakfast going for him and his brothers especially when I've been awake half the night with out new baby Mia!)

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.  Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals.
With our free cereal coupons, my family enjoyed two boxes of Total Raisin Bran, one box of regular Cheerios and one box of Honey Nut Cheerios. With 5 kids, cereal goes fast around here and I appreciate the opportunity to review for free, General MIlls cereals through My Blog Spark!
