Kung Fu Panda 2 Review and Giveaway

Hey Everybody,
It's been awhile since I have done a review! It seems like everything kicked it up a notch around here.
Redd recently began 3rd grade, Rusty is in 1st, Elijah decided he wanted to learn so I have to sit with him to avoid having to reteach him stuff later and Miya, well she wants to do 'school' too which is always interesting.
Life is busy and I love it! I really do not know how the big-time bloggers do it.  I'm sure organization has something to do with which is not my strong point!

Anyway, we recently had the opportunity to try out a new prize pak from My Blog Spark. Hot Wheels and General Mills Cereals Review and Giveaway!!!

On your mark, get set, GOOOO!!!!!
Six words kids love to hear especially after they finally get to rip their car out of the plastic.  You see, I have 3 boys close in age and even though it would probably teach them some important life lesson to pick which boy gets the first car from the first box of cereal we open, I instead kept the cars as we collected them on the counter and waited till I had 3 to give at the same time. Much anticipation, less arguing!!!! I call this a sanity saver in our household.  Elijah wasn't in the mood to race this time but enjoyed putting the stickers on his car.

General Mills and My Blog Spark sent our family 5 boxs of very yummy cereal to start our mornings off right. Imagine the additional excitement as they discovered pullback racer collectible Hot Wheels somewhere in the box.

Oops! Rusty had a false start! Let's try that again.

My personal favorite is Lucky Charms. It brings back memories of my childhood days when I would stay with one of my best friends, Mary.  Her mom always had a box of Lucky Charms waiting in their pantry for me.  They lived out in the country, with great woods to play in...a wonderful memory!!! 
My kids loved them all and the delicious cereal did not stay around for long!


After a little racing that did include some great sibling rivalry (code for arguing) they ventured off to race on their own. A lot of great mornings that led up to a great day of playing with Hot Wheels!

Jiffy Lube Review and Giveaway

A few days ago I was able to enjoy using a gift card offered to me through My Blog Spark by Shell Lubricants and MotorOilMatters.org which entitled me to a free oil change at the nearest Jiffy Lube.

I had to drive about 30 minutes to the closest Jiffy Lube but it was worth the time.
The day was not an ideal day to be out. It was rainy and I had already been to one appointment with Miya (our newest addition). However, customer service was excellent! I had driven close to the door and rushed to get Miya and myself inside only to find out I was supposed to drive around back. Spoonfuls of Stories Gift Set Review and Giveaway

I have a confession to make: I am a bibliomaniac! Now, before you get too worried, that just means I have an extreme preoccupation with collecting books. My husband sarcastically asks once and a while if we need a couple of more bookshelves. I say to him 'Don't tempt me!'.
Seriously, I have to read every day. The only time I do not read is when I have a bad headache. When it goes away, I make up for lost time!
So, when I got the Spoonfuls of stories Gift Set in the mail, I was pretty excited. My kids were too. They have also been diagnosed with bibliomania. Hopefully, it is incurable!
We read all the books together and I asked them each to choose their favorite one.

This nanny from Nashville won a $5,000 cash prize and the opportunity to have her book reviewed by Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing. Simon & Schuster offered Shellie a book deal - and will publish her book, illustrated by Robert Neubecker, in hardcover this summer. In addition, Cheerios will be featuring "The Great Dog Wash" free inside 1.5 million boxes of Cheerios. The book has been specially printed in paperback in both English and Spanish and will be available free inside boxes of Cheerios this spring.

Most of my giveaways are going to be Qpons but once and a while I'll be able to giveaway something like todays schoolbook, Skill Builder's Spanish, Level 2.This 78 pg. book helps beginning Spanish students increase their vocabularies with words from around the home. My favorite subject was orchestra. I started playing the violin in 3rd grade and it was love at first site! I gave music lessons to a bunch of kids till a couple of years ago. I still have a few students, one on piano and one on cello. Even though it is something I can do at home I cut back because I felt like I was giving my best to the students and not my family. What's neat is I now have music student grandkids! I have a 17 yr old former student who is now giving her own private lessons. Mom's, having your kids learn an instrument is a great investment! If you and the child are persistant it can be a part-time or full-time job for your child at a young age! Don't be afraid to barter for those lessons. I have a friend who offered to cook a meal in exchange for giving her son lessons. I said YES!!!!!!!!!!!! This same friends daughter comes over about every two weeks and helps me around the house and with the kids in exchange for her piano lesson. Priceless!

Simple Saturday: Free Containers
With the economy the way it is I think we should begin thinking of creative ways to avoid spending cash. I believe it's the small expenditures that steal a lot of our money. Last week we talked about free trash bags. This week, let's find free storage solutions!
1. Coffee cans: tin or plastic (the 33 oz kind)
These are good for craft supplies. My husband uses them in his shop to
store nails, screws, etc. Use them underneath bathroom or kitchen cabinets for soap and hair
supplies. A small tin can hold toothbrushes, toothpaste, cottonballs and q-tips.
I'm sure you could find a way to decorate them cheaply if you didn't want to see the
label. This past Christmas, my mother-in-law used them to put little presents in like gloves
and socks. Everybody loved it!
2. Recycle glass or plastic containers with lids.
These are great for little leftovers, homemade dressing, storing beans, rice, noodles, etc.
When my mom cooks my dad pancakes, she always makes extra for us and sends
maple syrup home with them in a recyled glass jar.
3. Shoeboxes.
Great for stationary, craft supplies, pictures, and keepsakes. If the top of the box is neat,
I know of a friend who cuts it out and frames it and they make great pictures, especially for
a kid's room.
4. Baby wipes containers.
Also great for crayons and other craft supplies. Our church has had a bible camp the last
several years and these are great for keeping each students indvidual pencils, pens, etc. in.
They can be decorated with spray paint to look pretty cool.
5. Do you have a handy man at home? Or maybe you are a handy mom! Thankfully I have a
handy man who can make extra shelves in empty closet space out of scrap wood. At a lot of
dumps now they have places off to the side where people get rid of furniture and other items.
Think of it as a free yardsale!
I know to some, this stuff might sound cheap, but if you look at it the same way you do Qpons, a little bit of savings goes a long way. I don't believe we should fear the present and future economy but instead prepare ourselves on how to live without a lot of unessary little things.
