Eating more sustainably can be healthier — and more delicious! — for you and your family, and it can help protect the environment at the same time. It’s not an all-or-nothing proposition: changing even one thing can make a big difference. What’s important is to find what works for you.

We’ve rounded up some ideas we can all use into a list we’re calling the Sustain Yourself, Sustain the Planet Pledge.

Go here to click on the sun icons to see what a difference your choices can make, and pledge to try one or more of them in your life.
Then print out your choices as a reminder of your pledge — if you’re one of the first 10,000 people to take the pledge each week in April, you’ll win a beautiful Earthbound Farm reusable shopping tote!

Focus Friday

Focus Friday

Focus Friday
I just read about this on the site Thrifty and Chic Mom and I like the idea so here goes:
Here's what I have to do: hold myself accountable by choosing one thing to focus on each week. It can be big or small, it doesn't matter just as long as I specify what it is and get it done.So each week I will post my focus for the upcoming week as well as give a recap of how my week went with the previous focus. Well, my first thing is to attack one pile at a time. I love books, magazines, articles, etc. and of course coupons! Lately, little and maybe some big piles have appeared around my house that need major attention. So, to start small and not get overwhelmed I want to give 30 minutes each day to clear up a pile.
My husband will really appreciate this!

Thank You Thursday

Thank You Thursday
This is a day where I want to thank those who have linked to my giveaways or those who have a site that lets myself and others link our giveaways. Today I would like to say thank you to
Shop Annies - A site ran by a mom of 6 who loves to save money, be frugal, meet lots of friends, and gather new tips.

1. Tell us about yourself and your website, Shop Annies
I am a mother of 6 and grandma of 1 and love to meet people and share my thoughts and ideas. Through my blog you can see this as I try to join in many daily memes and blog posts as well as share products I love.

2.How did you get started blogging and what do you enjoy most about it?
I started blogging after having to temporarily shut the doors to our business. It was sort of a way out into the world to talk to others. I started reading blogs many years ago and then just got into the act around 4-5 months ago. I love meeting the many kind people and participating in memes and giveaways are fun as well.

3.What is your #1 savings tip?
I love to watch cvs for the extra bucks buys, coupon shop, walk to save gas and menu plan. There are many things that I do to save money.

4. What is your favorite low-cost recipe?
Hash, simple hamburger browned, potatos boiled still in chunks,
mix, season, and serve.

5. What is your favorite store to save at?
kroger and walmart

6. What type of giveaway do you like the most?
My family would say stuff to eat, I would say giveaways for my grandbaby.

7. Have you ever won a giveaway?
Yes, a few, I have also held some.

8. Do you have any other websites that you would like to tell us about?
No, the blog is all that I have.

Thank You Shop Annies for taking time to do this interview and especially thank you for the times you have linked to me!

Tuesdays Tournaments

Do you have a giveaway you would like others to know about? Use Mr. Linky at the end of the post to let us know the prize, end date and your site name. Family friendly giveaways only please! I am posting this one a little early because I have do be gone all day tomorrow to run errands and make a trip to the 'Tooth Doctor'. By the way, do you have work that needs to be done on your teeth? Check with your local university's dental school. If you get accepted as a patient, the cost is about 1/3 of what you would pay at a regular dentist's office! I go once or twice a month and the appointments are 2-3 hrs long but the price is right! Unfortunately, during my 20's, I neglected my teeth, drank too many sodas and ate too much junk food and am reaping what I sowed.
So, floss, brush, and eat right!

200 Coupons Giveaway -March 9

200 Coupons Giveaway
My mom and dad have gone on a new diet and she has been giving me her stockpile so I have lots of extra coupons to give away! This contest will end March 17, 2009.
To gain entries do one or more of the following:
1. One entry for letting me know you are a subscriber.
2. One entry for writing about this giveaway. Leave a comment with the link, please.
3. One entry for following this blog, leave a comment with a link to your site.
4. One entry for telling us one thing you don't mind spending money on because it is a sanity saver.

For me, my sanity saver right now is the dishwasher. I used to hardly ever use it, but when #4 came along I started using it 2-3 times a week and now it's 5-7 times a week. I hang out laundry, wash in cold water, use grocery bags for trash bags, coupon like crazy but I spoil myself with the dishwasher.
My kids had a field trip at Panera Bread this morning. My kind've field trip! Anyway, the guide was telling us how much things cost like the big bread oven was about $50,000 and we all said we could do without that. Well, then she got to the dishwasher and we asked her how long it took to wash dishes and she said 'Oh, about 30 seconds'. You can imagine the look of covetousness that came over all the mom's faces! Priceless! It's like every mom was thinking in her head, 'How could I make that fit in our budget?' Definite sanity saver!

Free Math E-book (Go here)
Math Mammoth Clock is a worktext that covers telling time and reading the clock, telling time intervals, and understanding the calendar. The book contains both textbook explanations and exercises, and is designed to be very easy to teach from, requiring very little teacher preparation.

Math Mammoth Clock covers reading the clock, figuring out simple time intervals, and using the calendar, all in one book. The topics progress starting from the first grade level to the third grade level. Therefore, you also can let your child work the pages of this book in different time periods, and not go through it all at once, depending on your child's current level.

The lessons are divided to the grade-levels this way: reading the clock to the half-hour is first grade material; reading the clock to the five-minute intervals is second grade; and reading the clock to the minute is third grade level.

This one is easy. Paper Products we can live without:
Paper towels, napkins, and kleenex. Now, if you can get them for free, that's great!
If not, and you are trying to find all the places you can to cut out spending then this is one of them. Just use washcloths or get some cheap hand towels from some type of dollar store.
Now, please keep purchasing your toilet paper! Coupons and stockpiling is how you save on this one. Scott toilet paper, the regular kind lasts longer than any kind I know. Food Lion store brand is pretty similar. Look for drugstore rebates, and catalinas.
If you have any more ideas on this one, let me know!

We have shape cards where they have to say the shape. But there are also a few cards with a man jumping. When they get to one of those cards, they get to jump up. This is so much fun for all of us!

I try to make the learning time a game. Like with letters I print 2 copies of each letter flash card and turn it into a memory game. After they find a match, in order to get the pair they have to tell me the name and sound for the letter!
