Apologia: A Review of The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling by Debra Bell

I could write a book about this book! But don't worry, I'm not that ambitious nor do I have the time. (Check out here how this author found the time.)
That's why a book like this that Debra Bell has taken the time to write is 'precious'.  I read a lot of 'how to homeschool' books several years ago and honestly thought when I got this in the mail that I would just skim through it, write my review and pass it on. Not so! You will have to get your own copy.

I like the quote on the back cover:
"Passes Mike Farris's Official Number One Rule in Homeschooling: If it ain't easy for Mom to use, throw it out." -Micheal Farris (Founder, Home School Legal Defense Assosciation)

That quote says it all.  Each chapter includes lots of stories, practical tips, recommended resources, stories from the Bell family and great advice from those that have blazed the trail before us.

Homeschooling: Is it for You? (Includes a section for single parents, special needs and careers)

Choosing a Curriculum (great section titled 'Homeschooling on a Shoetring')

Organization and Planning (this is the part I really need!)

Creative Solutions (help for those who have toddlers or a zillion kids, which my husband says we have)

Resource Guide (I love this part, I get a lot of my ideas just reading from catalogs!)

I was encouraged and challenged at the same time. I truly believe the Lord helped her to write this book because it many times convicts you and provides you with a door of hope at the same time!

Most people when they hear the name Apologia think science but they have an Apologia Press Section that includes curriculum, resources for parents and tools for parents! The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling is sold here for $20.
